Blenheim

Our Blenheim factory is located just 35 kilometers from Picton - the gateway to the South island and comfortable cycling distance from Blenheim township itself. Employing over 200 staff on site, we offer great working conditions, overtime payment, full training, a variety of shifts that will suit most people as well as discounts to staff on our range of vegetables, mussels and ice cream.

Seasonal Positions

Vegetable processing staff: are employed to help process the wide range of vegetables that we grow in Blenheim. Staff may be engaged for one of three shifts - 6am to 2pm, 2pm to 10pm and 10pm to 6am. 5, 6 or 7 day weeks. Our seasons are:

Spinach processing from late August to November
Pea processing from late October to February
Corn Processing from January to May and
Other vegetable processing including carrots, cauliflower, broccoli and onions from May until late July

Drivers: Talleys own Company farms, as well as growing contracted crops with local farmers. Drivers are needed in season to either harvest the crops or transport harvested vegetables from the paddock to our factory. If you have either a class 2 or class 4 with W endorsement then work may be available during Pea Harvest from late October to February and Corn Harvest from January to May. Shift times in season are from 6am to 6pm and 6 pm to 6am with work available 6 days per week.

Farm Hands: if you enjoy working outside in the brilliant Marborough weather, this job could be for you. Farm hands are required for spinach weeding from August to November, and harvesting of asparagus, zucchini, peppers, broccoli and cauliflower from September to June.
Shift times are from 7.30am to 4.30pm with work available 6 or 7 days per week depending upon the season.

Vegetable packing staff: once processed, the vegetables are frozen and put into the coldstore ready to be packed according to customer requirements. Working with modern equipment, staff grade product to ensure it meets customer specification
Shift times are 6am to 2pm, 2pm to 10pm and 10pm to 6am either 5 or 6 days per week according to market demand.

Coldstore and Dispatch: if you are physically fit, able to work in cold conditions at times and are confident in maths and English this role may be of interest. Working mainly on three shifts (6am to 2pm, 2pm to 10pm and 10pm to 6am) between 5 and 7 days per week according to market requirements this position involves forklift driving, order picking and container loading as well as stock counting and recording.

Mussel Openers and Packers: Green Lipped Mussels are known the world over for their taste and appearance. In Blenheim we partially steam open the mussels and then openers remove one shell leaving the mussel meat attached to the other shell - ready to be frozen, packed and dispatched to restaurants around the world.

While we open mussels for close to 11 months of the year, we take on additional seasonal staff over the months of November to June. Openers work on a contract rate based on quantity opened and mussel size, with the opportunity to earn more as you become more efficient. Packers are paid on an hourly wage. Shift times 6am to 3.30pm and 6pm to 3.30am with work available 5 days per week.

Engineers, Electricians and Mechanics: maintaining our factory, farm and harvesting equipment is a full time job and we engage a team of qualified and competent staff to keep it all going. These are permanent positions. Please enquire about availability of positions.

Motueka

Our Motueka factory is located at Port Motueka and is within walking distance of the Motueka township. Motueka itself is the gateway to the pristine Abel Tasman National Park which is well known for its fine weather and beaches.
Employing over 300 staff on site, we offer great working conditions, overtime payment, full training, and a variety of shifts that will suit most people as well as discounts to staff on our range of fish, vegetables, mussels and ice cream.

Seasonal Positions

Fish processing staff: are employed year round to help process a wide variety of both inshore and deep sea fish. Positions may be available for filleters, trimmers, packers, and general hands throughout the course of the year but it is during the Hoki season that additional staff are engaged. Hoki is a mid water fish that is most easily caught during the winter months of July August and September. During the season we operate both day and night - working 6 shifts per week

Drivers: Talleys operate a large fleet of vehicles as we move fresh and frozen product around the South Island throughout the year. We take on additional drivers during the Hoki and Scallop seasons (running from July to December). If you have a class 5 license and are able to work either dayshift or nightshift and are able to do away trips then this could be of interest to you.

Coldstore and Dispatch: if you are physically fit, able to work in cold conditions at times and are confident in math's and English this role may be of interest. Predominantly dayshift, between 5 and 6 days per week according to market requirements this position involves forklift driving, order picking and container loading as well as stock counting and recording.

Mussel Openers, Graders and Packers: Green Lipped Mussels are known the world over for their taste and appearance. In Motueka we process mussels into either '½ Shell Mussels' or 'Marinate Mussels'.

½ shell mussels: we partially steam open the mussels, then openers remove one shell leaving the mussel meat attached to the other shell - ready to be frozen, packed and dispatched to restaurants around the world.

We open ½ shell mussels for almost 6 months of the year from January to late May. Openers work on a contract rate based on quantity opened and mussel size, with the opportunity to earn more as you become more efficient. Packers are paid on an hourly wage. Hours of work are generally 7am to 3.30pm with work available 5 days per week.

Marinate mussels: Talleys Marinate mussels are seen at almost every supermarket in New Zealand. Once the mussel has been steamed opened and both shells removed, staff grade and pack the mussels into pottles, top it up with a variety of marinates and then they are ready to eat. We operate both day and night with hours of work generally 7am to 4pm and 7pm to 4am.

Scallops Openers, Graders and Packers: Tasman Bay scallops are harvested from late September to December but can be enjoyed year round. Openers work on a contract rate based on quantity opened and scallop weight, with the opportunity to earn more as you become more efficient. Packers are paid on an hourly wage. Hours of work are generally 6am to 3.30pm with work available 5 days per week.

Our Ashburton factory is located just 6 kilometres from the city of Ashburton and is a comfortable commuting distance south of Christchurch. Employing over 100 staff on site, the Ashburton factory operates some of the most modern processing equipment available. We offer great working conditions, overtime payment, full training, a variety of shifts that will suit most people as well as discounts to staff on our range of vegetables, mussels and icecream.

Timaru

Our Timaru factory is located within easy walking distance of Timaru township with Timaru itself being roughly halfway between Christchurch and Dunedin. Employing close to 100 staff on site, our Timaru factory has recently been refurbished and offers great working conditions, overtime payments, and full training as well as discounts to staff on our range of fish, vegetables, mussels and icecream.

Fish Processing staff: are employed year round to help process a wide variety of both inshore and deep sea fish. Positions may be available for filleters, trimmers, packers, and general hands throughout the course of the year but it is during the two main seasons that additional staff are engaged:

Hoki Season: Hoki is a mid water fish that is most easily caught during the winter months of July August and September.
Red Cod / Squid Season: Red Cod and Squid are usually abundant on the East coast during the summer months of December to April. This results in additional work at our factory

Coldstore and Dispatch: if you are physically fit, able to work in cold conditions at times and are confident in maths and English this role may be of interest.
