About the role

We are currently looking for Apprentice Field Mechanic to join the team at our Ashburton workshop. The pay rate will be based on experience and qualification.

You will be working from 7am – 6pm Monday to Friday roster pattern. Weekend work during harvest seasons may be required, with some overtime available regularly and.

As an Apprentice Field Mechanic, you will be responsible for:

  • Completing a NZ Certificate in Heavy Automotive Engineering (Agricultural Equipment) Level 4 and suitable pre-trade.
  • Evaluating and diagnose mechanical problems with our harvest machinery and equipment.
  • Accurately maintaining all documentation and records, both written and electronic.
  • Being a point of contact on all day-to-day maintenance issues for the harvesters and any other field equipment.
  • Ensuring the harvesting equipment is kept in a condition that will allow full running, with as little down time as possible, to maintain production.

For this role, you’ll need:

  • To complete NZ Certificate in Heavy Automotive Engineering (Agricultural Equipment) Level 4 and suitable pre-trade.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical systems.
  • Welding and Engineering skills (an advantage but not necessary).
  • Class 1 full license, with willingness to pursue up to class 5, and Wheels/ Forklift endorsements.
