About the role

We are looking for a Financial Accountant, based at our Nelson office.

The Financial Accountant will play a crucial role in Talley’s financial operations, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and tax law.

As a Financial Accountant you will be responsible for:

• Performing month-end and year-end close processes
• Reconciling general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data
• Preparing half-yearly accounts for Talley’s Limited subsidiaries
• Managing GST, FBT and Income Tax payments
• Monitoring changes in accounting standards and implement necessary adjustments to processes and reporting.
• Examining financial records to check for accuracy
• Seek opportunities for continuous improvement in the area of financial controls, reconciliations, month end processes and compliance

For this role, you’ll need:

• Strong fundamental financial accounting skills
• CA qualified (or equivalent) preferred
• Wide experience with accounting systems
• An analytical mind & keen to probe further into data and find solutions
• Good communication skills – both written and verbal
• Deadline-orientated and an ability to stick to time constraints
• Commercial and business awareness
